Disability Resources on the Internet

The Internet is not just the World Wide Web. The Web is a terrific source for disability information, but disability resources also include newsgroups, mailing lists, Gopher space, and IRC chat.

Web Resources: There has been a rapid growth of disability and cerebral palsy related sites on the Web. You'll find everything from information on the ADA to a multimedia tutorial on cerebral palsy.

Newsgroups: A newsgroup is a public posting of a message or comment from an individual, often followed up by public posting of a reply. Anyone can post to a newsgroup, and you can reach a potentially large audience by writing just one message.

Mailing Lists: An Internet mailing list works both ways. Once you subscribe, you not only get a copy of any messages posted to the mailing list, you can also ask a question to thousands of people with one E-mail.

Gopher Resources: Gopher is a way of burrowing into the archives of mostly technical information that the Internet was founded to provide. A good place to search for detailed medical information.

IRC Chat for the Disabled: IRC Chat is sort of like CB radio for the 90's. Only instead of a microphone, you use a keyboard. Get online now and make your voice heard.
